Russ Malkin
Russ Malkin (born 20 March 1960) is a British film producer and creative director. He produced and directed three motorcycle adventure TV documentaries; ''Long Way Round'' and ''Long Way Down''〔(Cape Town's a long way down by bike )〕 featuring Charley Boorman and Ewan McGregor, and ''Race to Dakar'' featuring Boorman. The format of these programmes meant that he also made frequent on-screen appearances. This was also the case for ''By Any Means'', starring Boorman, but also featuring Malkin heavily. In 2011, Russ produced and directed a third collaboration with adventurer and actor Charley Boorman, for the Channel 5 prime-time adventure travel series, Charley Boorman’s Extreme Frontiers which spawned a follow-up book and DVD, ‘Extreme Frontiers: Racing Across Canada from Newfoundland to the Rockies’.〔(Charley Boorman: the star trekker )〕 He also founded the television production company Big Earth, dedicated to planning and composing international events, expeditions and adventure travel programme-making. A hub for adventure travel inspiration, Big Earth helps advise travellers on the best places in the world for off-road escapades and adventure sports, how to film these adventure, and what they, the likeminded traveller, can do to showcase their journeys or experiences online, via editorial, photography and video. In 2011 he wrote a book, ''Big Earth's 101 Amazing Adventures'', drawing on his experiences on the ''Long Way Round'', ''Long Way Down'' and ''By Any Means'' series as well as some of his other favourite adventures. It was published by Transworld. He has also worked on numerous other television productions including ''Murder Or Mutiny'', the World Wakeboarding Championships and ''Clothes Show Live'' for ITV. Big Earth productions latest project started in April 2014, collaborating with singer Joss Stone on her Total World Tour. Russ Malkin worked as an advisor, producer and director on the first stage of the tour. The production team follow Joss in her attempt to perform in nearly 200 countries. The tour begins in South Africa with a show in Johannesburg on April 2 and the spring leg of the tour that follows takes place in Morocco, Swaziland, Tunisia, Mauritius, UAE, Australia and New Zealand. ==References==
